Production of propane by biomass method is of great strategic significance

Propane is a pillar raw material for propylene production. In 2021, China imported 19 million tons of propane. The existing propane production technology in China is mainly the traditional petrochemical technology. Propane byproducts contain a lot of butane and ethane, which cannot meet the quality requirements. The scale of PDH project with high certainty in China is about 25 million tons, and the import volume of propane will be further released.

The cost of biosynthesis method of enzyme technology platform is estimated to be less than 2800 yuan/ton. It is expected to realize large-scale because of its cheaper raw materials, lower cost and lower carbon emissions.
